WOKINGHAM’S new bus service will be expanded in the New Year, with new timetables and a route that takes in the train station.
Reading Buses is improving its Lion 4 and X4 services from Monday, January 4 including services that start earlier and finish later in the day.
It will also stop at Wokingham Station, meaning passengers can catch the bus to catch the train.
A new timetable will, the company said, better reflect how the service works between Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell. This will include buses having more time to get from town to town as well as changing some of the departure times.
Reading Buses chief executive officer Martijn Gilbert said: “We took over the timetable in July from the previous operator and made changes in September to bring the route more into line with our own operations from our Reading depot, including launching a new brand and upgraded buses times.
“We’ve now got some five months of data from running the route as Reading Buses, as well as some new, fantastic insights from both drivers and customers. We’ve used all this feedback to improve the timetable with a real focus on service reliability, as well as responding to the many requests to serve Wokingham station and lay on an extra bus into Reading.”
The additional services to Wokingham Station is something that the bus company is excited about.
Mr Gilbert added: “This is a great time to serve the recently re-built Wokingham Station. It provides a fantastic interchange facility to the recently enhanced South West Trains services to London following their recent timetable change.
“At the same time provides new opportunities for customers along our frequent lion route from Bracknell to change onto Great Western Railway services on the North Downs route to Guildford, Redhill and Gatwick Airport.”
Timetables are now available online and on buses.
