Liquid squirted in Shinfield motorist’s face during attack


A FEMALE motorist was assaulted by a van driver in an incident during a  school run on Monday, October 8.

Now Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following the assault in Shinfield.

The incident occurred at around 3.10pm on Tuesday at the Hollow Lane junction of the Black Boy roundabout.

Thames Valley Police said that the victim, a 39-year-old woman, was in her car at the junction.

Her son, 13-years-old, was also in the car, and shouting out of the window to a friend.

A van then pulled up next to the victim’s car and the driver shouted at her son.

The female driver then shouted back, telling him to stop.

The offender picked up a bottle from his dashboard and shouted back at the victim.

Police said that they the passenger in the van then took the bottle from the offender and squirted its contents into the victim’s face as they were pulling away from the junction.

The woman was forced to swerve, hitting the van and the van drove away.

The victim was not injured.

The offender is described as a white man, between 25 and 30-years-old, of large build, ginger hair and freckles.

The passenger of the van is described as a white man, also between 25 and 30-years-old with a slim build.

Investigating officer PC Philip Davies, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please come forward.

“I would also urge anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the area to get in touch as it may provide vital information.”
