HE can pull pints like no-one else.
And this weekend, Winston the shire horse will be displaying his talents and, hopefully, be treated to the odd carrot or two.
It’s all part of a special weekend organised by Twyford’s Binghams Brewery.
On Saturday, the brewery is launching a tap room at its Ruscombe Lane premises where drinkers can enjoy a beer, cider or wine under Berkshire’s blue skies.
There’s plenty of cover should the wet stuff spill from the clouds rather than the tap and punters can bring their own food – although crisps and pork scratchings are available.
On Sunday, as part of a Father’s Day special, Winston will bring back memories of when beer was delivered by horse and cart around the borough.
Director Chris Bingham will climb on board as Winston travels between Buratta’s at the Royal Oak, Ruscombe Lane, and the Duke of Wellington on Twyford’s High Street.
“Some people suggested I might ride Winston but I think for his sake, and mine, its best I stay in the wagon,” laughed Chris.
“Winston is used to pulling a cart from pub to pub because it used to be his full time job at another brewery. Binghams Brewery will be there to answer any questions you have about beer and brewing and both pubs will have Binghams Brewery beers on so Dad can have a thirst quenching drink too.”
If you want to say hello to Winston, he will be at the Royal Oak between noon and 12.45pm, and at the Duke of Wellington from 1pm to 1.45pm.
