A 22-year-old man from Earley has been found guilty of assault.
Braydon Corrigan, of Squirrels Way, was found guilty of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a six-day trial at Reading Crown Court, which concluded on Monday, July 31.
Mr Corrigan, along with two other men from Reading, were involved in an altercation with another group of men in Palmer Park, off Wokingham Road, at around 5am on November 8, 2015.
Police were called following reports that two groups of men, one group of four, and another of three men, were involved in a verbal altercation about drugs.
The groups then left Palmer Park, and as the group of four men, which included the victims, was leaving they were approached by the group of three, who had been joined by another five men. The eight men attacked the victims, punched them and hit them over the head multiple times with beer bottles.
At around 10.30pm on November 26, 2015 one of the victims was at Park Bar on the University of Reading Whiteknights Campus when he was threatened by another man who told him to drop the charges from the November 8 incident.
Corrigan was found guilty of assault, while Daniel Brown, 22, of Wokingham Road, was found guilty of making an offer to supply a class A drug, and Joshua Cruickshank, 22, of Benson Close, Reading, was found guilty of witness intimidation.
The trio have been remanded in custody to be sentenced on September 6.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Neil Callaway, based at Reading Police station, said: “This was a brutal and sustained attack, with weapons, on a group of individuals.
“The intimidation which followed caused real distress to the victims who were very brave in coming forward. I hope this verdict brings closure to them and reassures the public that behaviour such as this will be dealt with robustly.”
