THE BREXIT Party is to hold a meet and greet session for its Bracknell candidate in the town on Thursday evening.
David Winsper has been selected by Nigel Farage to stand in the seat which is currently held by Dr Phillip Lee. Due to parliamentary boundaries, the area includes parts of Finchampstead and Wokingham Without.
Dr Lee recently switched parties from Conservatives to Liberal Democrats and is standing for his new party against Sir John Redwood in Wokingham. It is not yet known who will stand in Bracknell for the Conservatives, but it has been seen as a safe seat for the party.
The Brexit Party was launched by Nigel Farage and is looking to contest its first General Election when it is called.
In a poster promoting the event, it reads: “Fed up with the current crop of duplicitous, self-serving career politicians? Then come join David Winsper, the Brexit Party prospective parliamentary candidate for Bracknell and the team for our second group meeting, to discuss all things Brexit within the constituency”.
And in a tweet, Mr Winsper outlined more of his reasons for standing for The Brexit Party.
“The duplicity in #Politics is precisely why I have lost faith in the current crop of Self Serving, Career Politicians, who have lost touch with #Democracy and why I am standing for The Brexit party,” it reads.
His candidate announcement attached to the tweet added:
“As a veteran, the British Government, irrespective of party, has sent me and people like me all over the world exporting democracy and championing the democratic way of life. Holding Britain aloft as the bastion for others. Sadly, these same, self-serving politicians, who sent me to war twice, are now that delusional that they think they know better than the will of the people, the 17.4 Million.
“This has to stop. Full stop.”
The meeting will be held at Bracknell Bowling and Social Club in Church Road, Bracknell from 7pm on Thursday, October 17.
