Forecasts relating to the Beast From The East are now firming up and it looks like the borough will be hit by snow across the week. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for several days – but they are still hedging their bets as to how severe the snowfall will be.
Temperatures are starting to plummet as the cold air from the Arctic crosses Europe and hits the UK.
The full blast of cold air will start hitting Wokingham from Sunday afternoon, and wind chill will make the temperatures feel several degrees colder than it actually is.
Forecasting snow is problematic for weather forecasters as it depends on the right set of atmospheric conditions.
However, the Met Office is now saying that snow could fall across Wokingham on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. It is currently light snow that is forecast, but again this could change – it could be no snow or heavy snow showers that last all day.
The Met Office warns: “There is the potential for travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers, as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air travel. Some rural communities could become cut off. Power cuts may also occur and other services, such as mobile phones, may be affected.”
