A POLICE presence is in Woodley this morning after a five-year-old girl was reported to be roaming the streets at 5am.
The girl was spotted in Woodlands Avenue and was described as white and wearing a pink dressing gown, with navy leggings, black shoes and was wearing her hair in a ponytail.
It is not known why she was in the streets by herself at 5am, or where she is now.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses or sightings to help them as they try and track her down.
In a statement on their Facebook page, Inspector Caroline Harrison said: “Officers are currently in Woodley searching for the child and making enquiries following reports she was on her own early this morning. At this stage we have not had any reports of a missing person.
“We would like anyone in the local community who wish to assist to report any possible sightings of the child to police or to come forward with any information which may help with our enquiries and to identify who the child is.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call Thames Valley Police’s 24-hour enquiry centre on 101 quoting the reference URN 252 29/9.
