ONE of the biggest gyms in Berkshire opened for the first time on Christmas Eve, offering a host of new equipment just in time for people making New Year’s resolutions to get fit.
Loddon Valley Leisure Centre has seen a £2 million investment programme pay fruit: additional fitness stations offering the latest equipment – including an indoor track and a lifting platform – have been installed as a result of the extension work.
And there’s other training devices too including a stair master, two new lifting platforms for weights and a skillrows rowing machine.
Run by Places Leisure on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council, the popular centre will utilise the extra space to create a more varied training, plus easier access to equipment, creating overall a more enjoyable environment for all gym users whatever their age and abilities. There will also be a new dedicated group cycling studio.
And there will be baby and parent classes, and sessions in Pilates, body balance and yoga.
Fitness instructor Darron Aususels said: “Everyone loves it. It’s a much nicer environment, it’s very friendly and it’s a lovely place to be.
“It’s one of the biggest gyms in Berkshire at the moment and with the best prices.
“The staff are really, really excited.”
