Six brand new buses that will connect Woodley with Reading will be officially toasted with orange juice tomorrow.
Reading Buses has invested in the new fleet for the new Woodley Orange routes 12, 13 and 14.
Although the new route was introduced earlier this month, this will be the first chance many will have had to see the new Wright Streetdeck buses bought by the company to serve the town.
The British made state-of-the-art buses include a number of new and innovative on-board features including USB charging, super fast 4G WiFi and even a sofa in a group seating zone.
Reading Buses said that they are the lightest weight and most fuel efficient in their class, meeting the stringent Low Carbon Bus (LCEB) certification which is unusual for double deck buses and are industry leading in combining luxury features with low weight and economic operation.
They were constructed by Wrightbus in Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
Launch event
Martijn Gilbert, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer, will be on hand to launch the buses in Woodley tomorrow, along with his colleagues. They will be in the shopping precinct from 10.30am to 4.30pm, answering questions and giving tours.
He said: “The £1.3m investment in these new buses will revitalise our Woodley routes, considerably enhancing the travelling experience for our customers and making these services an attractive and viable alternative to private car use.”
As a result of the new timetable changes, there are now five buses an hour between Woodley and Reading on orange routes 12, 13 and 14.
