CUSTOMERS from a Wokingham building society have helped raise more than £1,200 for charity over the past 12 months.
Late last month, a team from Newbury Building Society presented the fruits of their labour to the Sue Ryder Wokingham Day Hospice.
The money was raised by customers supported a range of events including prize draws, a contest to name a reindeer and a 100km virtual-cycle challenge which was organised during last summer’s heatwave.
In all, £1,265 was raised and presented to the hospice, which is based at Wokingham Hospital.
Newbury branch managers Deborah Gadd and Charlotte Hall said: “We are delighted to award Sue Ryder with a cheque worth over £1250.
“Sue Ryder is a fantastic charity and the amount raised is a testament to how hard the team has worked to raise as much money as possible during 2018.
“We would like to thank the public for their kind donations and support.”
And Abi Hurst, community fundraiser at Sue Ryder Wokingham Day Hospice, added: “We are so grateful to Newbury Building Society Wokingham Branch.
“Debbie, Charlotte and the rest of the team do such a wonderful job supporting us by helping us raise vital funds and also volunteering at the day hospice. The money raised last year is enough to pay for a syringe driver to give constant symptom relief for patients.”
