A MAN who died in Nine Mile Ride on Monday was stabbed in the chest.
Thames Valley Police said that a post mortem conducted on 27-year-old Zelous Smythe, from Camberley, revealed that he died from a single stab wound.
Around 2pm on Monday, Smythe was seen on the road in Wokingham Without. Paramedics attempted to treat him at the scene but the injuries were so severe that he died at the scene.
The road remains closed while enquiries are ongoing at the scene however will re-open once these are completed.
A 27-year-old man from Wokingham and a 20-year-old woman from Bracknell, who were arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder, currently remain in police custody.
Detective Superintendent Ian Hunter, Head of the Major Crime unit, said: “We believe there are some witnesses who we are yet to trace who drove past the incident at around 2pm on Monday, November 5, in Nine Mile Ride.
“If this was you or you have any information which may assist our investigation, I would like to encourage you to come forward and speak to police.
“The victim’s next of kin are continuing to be supported by specially trained family liasion officers.”
Superintendent Shaun Virtue, Local Police Area Commander for Bracknell and Wokingham, said: “I understand our community will be concerned by this tragic incident, but the public should be reassured that police do not consider there to be any threat posed to people in the local community. Local officers remain close to the scene to provide reassurance and support to those affected.”
