Snow and ice have meant that Reading Buses has withdrawn its services to Wokingham this evening.
A tweet from the company revealed that instead of coming into Wokingham, the Lion bus route (the 4 and 4x) will go between Reading and Bracknell via the A329m.
The tweet said: ” Lion routes 4 and 4X will run direct between Reading and Bracknell via the A329 due to icy roads around Wokingham”
A further tweet revealed more behind the decision:
“the poor road conditions have continued to worsen. Another operator and some cars have had incidents in Wok. due to snow. For this reason, we arent serving Wokingham currently.”

Yesterday, the company had pledged to keep buses will be kept running for as long as possible.
“We will have our wonderful people out and about in Reading to monitor the road conditions and make sure that all roads are passable by bus,” said Jake Osman, Reading Buses Marketing and Communications Manager.
“We always tell people to not believe any rumours of cancelled buses unless they have been confirmed by us on our website or social media.
“It will always be the last resort to cancel any buses, but we will keep you updated should this happen. We will always endeavour to keep buses running whilst it is safe to do so – the safety of both our employees and customers is obviously of paramount importance.
“The best way to stay informed with the most up to date information is by using one of our social media pages. You can like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for a live feed of any developments on the roads – just search for Reading Buses.
“This will let you know what is happening on the roads in real time. We will give you route-by-route updates, including any disruption or cancellations.
“We will also be regularly updating our website about any delays to services and road closures, although these will not be as often as social media.”
“If you have internet access we urge you to check our website and social media pages as our phone lines always get very busy during snowy weather. This will ensure that our phone lines are kept clear for people who need to speak to customer services.”
