WOKINGHAM stay rooted to the bottom of BCL Division 2 after they were thrashed by Earley who won their fifth match of the season to remain in second place.
Earley won the toss and elected to field first. Wokingham started poorly as they lost Steve Smith for just one run and opening partner Simon Herrington followed quickly after as he was bowled out by Sean Vis for just seven runs.
Wokingham struggled to find any momentum throughout their innings as Paul Tatum top scored for the Oaks with 11 runs. After his dismissal, Earley continued their ruthless bowling streak and tore through the middle order as Gary Shacklady claimed two wickets.
The total would have been even lower had it not been for the amount of extras that Earley conceded (31), which could have come back to punish them on another day.
The final two wickets of the innings came through run outs as Shashank Goyal removed Krishnan Fernando for a duck before Owen Bye dismissed Fawad Hasan for eight with Wokingham posting a very modest total of 87 runs.
Shacklady and Bye opened the Earley innings and put on a decent partnership. Bye was dismissed for 23 runs before his opening partner lost his wicket to Prasad Kulkarni for 31 runs, however the pair had already contributed a long way to reaching the total.
Richard Draper gained his second wicket of the innings to dismiss Goyal for just one run, but the pair of Vinod Aduri (5 not out) and Venu Gudimetla (21 not out) guided their team to victory as they caught the total after just 25.3 overs to secure a convincing victory.
Earley are just behind league leaders West Reading having won five of their six games this season, but Wokingham are not faring so well at the bottom of the table with only one victory so far.
