STAFF at a Wokingham school are celebrating after being given an Outstanding rating in an Ofsted inspection.
The result for Barnardo’s High Close School’s social care inspection saw it praised for significantly contributing to improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people.
The report highlighted how children’s involvement in all aspects of the school and their care is well supported. It also recognised how “leaders and managers provide exemplary leadership and management, which promotes children’s safety and well-being”.
The school, in Wiltshire Road, caters for pupils with complex special educational and mental health needs.
Ofsted said that “staff are persistent and inventive and always look for ways children can make small changes which can have a big impact” and that they “reflect carefully about how to prepare and support children to move on successfully”.
Mark Shears, principal of High Close School said: “The outstanding rating we achieved from the OFSTED Social Care inspection is testament to the passion and hard work shown by all of the team at High Close School. We are delighted with the outcome and our dedicated and committed team will continue to try and achieve the best for the pupils who attend our school.”
