THE FINAL plans are being put in place for this year’s Ollie Young Foundation Summer Fun Day.
Marking five years since the youngster lost his battle against a brain tumour, this year’s fun day is guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever, with fun and games for all the family to enjoy.
Ollie Young was just five-years-old when he passed away, only 12 weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Since then, his parents Sarah and Simon have campaigned to raise awareness of the condition, and raise vital funds for research and support.
Money raised by the foundation goes towards research into brain tumours in children at Portsmouth University, and also supports CLIC Sargent and Helen & Douglas House.
The Fun Day will be held at Cantley Field, Wokingham on Sunday, August 13 and will feature live entertainment, stalls, games and inflatables. There may even be a surprise from a galaxy far, far away…
There will be lots of tempting food on offer, with a barbecue, homemade pizza, and an Italian food truck, while a licensed bar will quench visitors’ thirst along with plenty of tea and coffee.
Platform YP Performing Arts School will be wowing the crowds with their dances, Matt Fiddes will give a martial arts demonstration, and the Gratis choir will sing a live set.
Local businesses will also be selling their wares, from personalised arts and crafts to jewellery.
A huge raffle will also be on offer, with prizes ranging from tickets to local family attractions, vouchers for local restaurants, and photography vouchers.
Sarah Young said: “Since starting the Ollie Young Foundation we’ve had the most amazing local (and beyond) support, and this continues with sponsorship towards the event this year from Stitchery Do, Wokingham Chiropractors, Inspirations Hair Salon and Keysight Technologies – again, a great big thank you from all of us at the OYF.”
Doors open 11am to 4pm, and entry to the fun day is free. For more information visit www.ollieyoungfoundation.org.
