Paul Clement says Reading must back up their win against Bristol City with another victory against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The under-pressure Royals boss guided his side to a valuable 3-2 win over the Robins at Madejski Stadium at the weekend thanks to goals from Yakou Meite, Liam Kelly and Leandro Bacuna.
But his side remain in the relegation zone as they seek back-to-back victories for the first time since December 2017 under Jaap Stam.
“It’s good that we’re winning at home,” said Clement.
“We’ve got to back it up, that’s the important thing.
“That’s what we’ve not managed to do all season, back a good result up with another good result. All the focus now is on next week and let’s see if for the first time this season we can go back-to-back wins, it would be great.”
Four defeats in five saw the Royals tumble into the Championship relegation zone heading into the clash with Bristol City.
And Clement admits getting the three points against the Robins has eased some pressure on his own position.
“I think I can stay for another week now, which is nice,” he joked.
“I think it was important.
“We are still in the bottom three. Our position in the table has not changed but it’s made it a little bit tighter.
“We’re not getting stranded down at the bottom.
“Now we play a team that are bottom and we’ve got a chance of going eight points ahead of bottom.
“I’m sure if we win next weekend we will climb out of the bottom three, I’m sure of it.
“We’ve suffered together and we’re still fighting to improve.”
