Reading FC manager Veljko Paunović wants full focus on the pitch amid rumours surrounding a possible points deduction from the EFL.
“Those conversations are held by the senior board,” said Paunović.
“I’m informed so far we are in conversations and that’s the most I can tell you.
“I focus on the things we can control.
“We can deal with external issues or rumours, but we have to remain disciplined and focused on the team and my job is to do that.
“We focus on the things we control and do the best we can. We have a good spirit we have recovered.
“Everyone has heard this story for two years now with the embargo and knows the club is fighting a difficult situation, but we can’t let any distractions outside affect what we are doing.”
The Royals host Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough side at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday (12.30 pm kick-off).
The game will be televised live on Sky Sports as Reading search for a third consecutive victory after finding an upturn in form after a difficult start to the season.
“It was a very good week and a good mood in Bearwood right now,” he continued.
“That’s something we have been looking forward to reaching and moving forward into the next important week that helps.
“Our consistent performance in attack has helped us get wins, we have to maintain that attacking performance.
“Against Middlesbrough, it won’t be easy but it’s a great test.”
Paunović also addressed the recent injury concerns and confirmed that Michael Morrison will be out of action.
“Michael Morrison is the biggest blow we had this week. He won’t be ready for this game, and in the longer term, he might be out.
“The last tackle two minutes before the end of the game (against Fulham) caused his injury.
“He’s a tough guy, very robust, and mentally strong also so he managed to play the rest of the game.
“At that point, it didn’t look that bad but after an assessment, we didn’t get good news.
“Injuries are a part of the game. What we are having is unusual and is hard t deal with ut we are not going to put any excuses in.
“We have to find solutions and support the guys that are injured and want them as soon as possible to be back.”
