THREE men have been arrested following a raid on a Co-operative store in Shinfield, just weeks after previous attacks on other branches of the chain.
On Thursday, March 8, police were called to the Hyde End Lane branch of the convenience store chain following reports of an assault.
As we reported last night, the store was closed by police following the incident, with the entrance to the Hyde End Road shop sealed off with advertising hoardings.
The Wokingham Paper understands that police were called after 8.30pm following reports of a disturbance.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Police were called at about 8.45pm on Thursday by a staff member at the Co-operative store in School Green, Shinfield, who reported an assault.
“He was not injured as a result of the incident.”
And three men have been arrested as a result.
The spokesperson added: “A 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were later arrested on suspicion of robbery, while a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault.
“The three men, who are all from Reading, are currently in custody.”

The last incident took place in the Earley branch in the early hours of Sunday, February 18.
In this raid, an armed man stole cash from the till. No one was hurt in the incident.
And on Monday, February 12, the London Road branch at Cemetery Junction in Reading was raided late at night by a robber armed with a knife.
