POLICE have revealed why they had a large presence in Lower Earley yesterday afternoon – they were responding to an emergency call from a man who said he was being chased by drivers of another car.
The incident took place around 2pm on Wednesday, April 24.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “At around 2pm officers were called to reports that a man had been threatened and was being chased in his car by three men in another car.
“Two of the men have got into the victims vehicle at traffic lights and threatened him with a knife. He was then taken to an address in Lower Earley.
“Officers attended the scene and arrested two 34-year-old men from Reading, following further investigation a 31-year-old man from Reading was also arrested in connection with the incident.
“They remain in police custody at this time.”
The victim was uninjured.
Last night we reported that police had sealed off an address in Lower Earley, off Rushey Way. It is connected with the police’s investigation.
The spokesperson added: “The public may see an increased police presence as we continue to investigate this incident.
