STUDENTS from an Arborfield school enjoyed a special cultural exchange earlier this month after Chinese pupils spent a fortnight with them.
The Bohunt School teamed up with UK China Education to give 20 students from Guangzhou a chance to experience life in England – including staying with school families.
And the school said that the exchange students undertook a jam-packed itinerary to integrate them with British school life and to gain a taste of what it’s like to be a Bohunt student.
Activities ranged from participating in after-school class activities with the debating society, to excursions to London and the British Museum, Oxford, Winchester and the Warner Brothers studios.
Their time at the school culminated in a special closing ceremony, which was an opportunity to reflect on the experiences and relationships made during the exchange.
The exchange is part of Bohunt’s global approach to education. In all, 75 Chinese students will visit three secondary schools across the Trust.
And there is an international vision: The Trust plans to open a school in China in the coming years.
Phil Avery, director of education for the Bohunt Education Trust, said: “We were delighted to launch our largest cultural exchange as a Trust yet, by welcoming 20 students to Bohunt School Wokingham, along with many more students across two other BET schools.
“We have championed international partnerships and programmes, such as exchanges and homestays, for many years.
“They provide a brilliant opportunity for our students and staff, and the students from Guangzhou, to integrate, collaborate and share experiences of different cultures and approaches to education.”
