More than 70 girls from Girlguiding Woodley District recently celebrated Guiding around the world with a range of internationally themed activities to celebrate World Thinking Day, one of the key annual events on Girlguiding’s calendar.
Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and adult Leaders came to together from units across Woodley to mark the 2019 Thinking Day. The annual international event encourages the girls to think of each other and celebrate their Guiding sisters around the world.
Every year the theme of the event encourages members to think about the big issues affecting them and their global community. This year’s Thinking Day theme was “Leadership.”
During the Woodley District event, the girls took part in a game of Guiding Bingo, and made Guiding dolls in uniforms from different countries which were placed on a large world map. Guides from across the district researched the four Girlguiding World Centres in Mexico, India, Switzerland and the UK.
Kelly Robinson, Unit Leader of 3rd Woodley Green Rainbows said: “Everyone had a great time celebrating international Guiding. After the girls went home, all the volunteers had an afternoon tea to mark the occasion and share time together which was lovely.”
