ONCE upon a time, there was a housebuilder who was working next to a school.
And he wanted to be seen as a good neighbour.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin … David Wilson Homes Southern organised a special storytelling event for pupils at Shinfield Infant and Nursery School.
Professional storyteller Martin Reed, a member of the Society for Storytelling, spent the day at the school, helping them to engage with some popular tales.
Pupils were encouraged to participate in the story and acted out some of the characters they were learning about. They also took part in an exercise where they solved one of the questions within the story which was left unanswered.
The school’s headteacher, Amanda Turner, said: “We’re very grateful that David Wilson Homes was able to arrange this storytelling event for the pupils of our school.
“It’s great to see the homebuilder reaching out to the local community and the children really enjoyed Martin’s stories.”
Rob Allen, sales director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “It was a pleasure to organise this storytelling event for the pupils of Shinfield Infant and Nursery School and Martin’s stories really enchanted the children which was great to see.
“Events such as these give David Wilson Homes the opportunity to make a difference in the communities in which they build and encourage the awareness week that promotes skills such as reading, writing, listening and creativity.”
