A RAINBOW flag in support of Pride will be flown from Shute End on August 31.
In a question at the meeting of Wokingham Borough Council on Thursdya, July 18, Cllr Maria Gee wanted to know if the council would join others by flying the flag in support of LGBT+ communities.
Cllr Halsall confirmed that this would be the case as the council welcomes diversity, recognises the interests of minority groups and the importance of enabling equality for all.
Cllr Gee wanted to know if Wokingham would have its own pride event.
His reply in the chamber was flustered, but speaking to The Wokingham Paper afterwards, Cllr Halsall said that this was in part due to him not correctly hearing the question and other councillors making noise at the same time.
“There was so much happening at that moment,” he said.
“I couldn’t hear the question and I hadn’t got notice of it beforehand, so I didn’t really know what Cllr Gee was asking.
“I am encouraging everybody to express themselves as they want to and I’m delighted to support Pride and the equalities movement.”
