barely a breath of a breeze,
a mere whisper of wind
caresses the last
of the tulips, prettily faded
in purple and pink.
a flash of grey-white-blue,
a striking jay swoops
above watchful garden robin,
proud, tiny, territorial,
red breast puffed.
dusky, slender fox ambles
into the warm glow of the garden
sniffs, gazes languidly,
then settles lazily
beneath tall pine trees.
soft wind gathers, playful,
teases a light murmur
from carved wooden chime,
soft moan of sheer pleasure
for the sunshine day.
Welcome summer.
