Reading Buses has named its new Finance Director as Laurence Jenkins, a 36-year-old from London with a wealth of experience in the transport industry.
Mr Jenkins – who began his career with a placement at National Express while studying for a BA in management studies and transport studies at the University of Leeds – says he is excited to join the company for what promises to be a successful future for Reading Buses.
He said: “I am looking forward to contributing to the continued development and expansion of Reading Buses through further acquisitions and organic growth as well as making sure we are progressing in a sustainable way.”
During his education, Mr Jenkins spent seven and a half years in various part-time roles with National Express in Leeds and Bradford and post-graduation became a team leader for a further two years.
He then moved in 2006 to Transport for London where he spent eleven and a half years and fulfilled a number of roles including contract accounting and financial management, culminating in becoming a principal finance business partner.
Throughout his time at Transport for London, Mr Jenkins was also studying for his Chartered Institute of Management Accountants exams which he qualified as an Associate Member for in 2009.
The new director also occupied the role of senior financial business partner for infrastructure and property at London-based construction contractors, J. Murphy & Sons in 2017.
And the latest addition to his résumé involves leading a finance team of 10 at Reading Buses’ Great Knollys Street depot.
He said: “I find transport a fascinating industry to work in and I am extremely pleased to be joining Reading Buses at an interesting and exciting time for the organisation.”
