Reading have confirmed the signing of Portuguese striker Orlando Sa from Legia Warsaw on a three-year deal.
Sa, 27, has experience in England before during a spell with Fulham and finished as Legia’s top scorer last season after netting 14 goals in 26 appearances, many of which came from the bench.
The deal is for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of around £1 million.
A former Portugal international, Sa has been in fine form across Europe in recent years, finding the net every 143 minutes since 2012 and his addition has delighted boss Steve Clarke.
He said: “The striking department was one area of the team that everyone agreed needed strengthening this season.
“Obviously Orlando’s goal record is really impressive but, for me, I was most impressed by his answer to my question about why he wanted to come to play for Reading in the Championship.
“Immediately he replied ‘I want to play in the Premier League again and Reading can take me there’.
Clarke continued: “He is a strong player who leads the line well and has an eye for goal. I’m sure he will be a big asset to the squad this season.”
Sa is due to join up with the squad at the weekend before flying out to the pre-season trip to Thailand.
