FANS heading to Reading FC’s first match of the new season this weekend are being urged to dig deep in memory of the club’s academy manager.
Eamonn Dolan passed away in June at the age of 48. The Madejski Stadium’s north stand has been renamed in his honour, which will be officially opened before the club’s game with Preston North End tomorrow (Saturday).
Action Bladder Cancer UK (ABC UK) will be holding a bucket collection before the game at the request of Eamonn’s family.
Bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer in men, and the seventh most common cancer overall in the UK, with more than 5,000 people dying every year from the condition.
ABC UK works to raise awareness of bladder cancer, provide support to those with bladder cancer, improve patient outcomes and support research into bladder cancer.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “ABC UK urgently needs funds to carry out our work – and donations from fans and others will help us do that. If you’re at the game on Saturday, please make a donation to one of the ABC UK collectors.”
If you’re not going to be at the game and would like to donate to support ABC UK’s work, you can visit http://tinyurl.com/ABCUKDonate or click on the green Donate button on the ABC UK website www.actionbladdercanceruk.org.
