POSTCARDS offering a window on Wokingham’s past will be on offer this weekend thanks to a card collecting fair in Reading.
The event, held on Sunday at Rivermead Leisure Centre, is said to be the largest event of its kind in the country and is organised by Reading Cigarette Card and Postcard Club.
It’s quite a change of scene for the group – their usual meeting place is Charvil Village Hall.
The event attracts local historians, family history enthusiasts and card collectors who organisers say will enthuse over the vintage cards, mainly from 100 years ago and earlier, of topographical, social history and thematic views that will be available from the 90 dealers present.
Likewise, Cartophilists, (Cigarette Card collectors), will drool over the ‘gems’ available.
The fair runs at the Richfield Avenue venue from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
