RAMPANT Redingensians continued their charge up the table with a clinical bonus-point 39-26 win over Worthing at Old Bath Road.
Rams have now won five games on the spin and sit third in the National League 2 South standings, 13 points off the top with 13 games still to play.
Seb Reynolds’ charges showed no signs of rust after two weeks off for Christmas, running in three tries inside the opening 20 minutes to take control, courtesy of Tom Vooght (2) and Colin Thompson.
A young Worthing side battled back from the early 15-0 deficit and they clinched a bonus-point of their own in the final minute with a fourth try on the day.
Two yellow cards for Rams was the only blot on an otherwise impressive day, which took an unusual twist in the 56th minute when injuries to Raiders forwards meant the scrums became non-contested.
“We have immense respect for the way Worthing play,” said head coach Reynolds.
“Their backs can hit your from anywhere so although there are things that we still want to work on, I am pleased that we started 2018 with a five-point home win.”
Rams face a tough assignment on Saturday, hosting second-placed Chinnor (2pm).
