A REVISED timetable for Wokingham Fireworks has been published, with the display being brought forward to enable families to attend.
The annual display was postponed at the last minute on Saturday after a gas leak closed the entrance to Cantley Park.
However, the display will now go ahead on Sunday, November 4. Programmes that were bought in advance for the Saturday will be valid for tomorrow and they will be available to purchase on the gate.
Wokingham Fireworks’ David Gold told The Wokingham Paper: “The display will take place tomorrow.
“We will start promptly, so please arrive promptly. The times have changed to help parents with children who have to go to school on Monday so it’s not too late for them.
“The fun fair and food stalls in Cantley Park will be open from 5pm, with the display starting at 6.30pm.
“Sadly, what we can’t do is to hold the torchlit procession from Market Place to Cantley.”
Eyewitnesses who saw the leak said that a massive cloud of gas was escaping from a burst pipe across the entrance of Cantley Park in Twyford Road.
The incident happened around 5.30pm on Saturday night and forced the postponement of the annual charity event in neighbouring Cantley Field.
Police sealed off Twyford Road and members of the Unicorns, Rotary and Lions clubs were on hand to direct members of the public to safety.
The annual event raises thousands of pounds for charity every year.
