WORK to revamp a popular lake has continued this week.
Woodford Park in Woodley is currently the focus of the project to create a new fully accessible footpath to enable everyone to enjoy the facilities.
Last week, mechanical work by Ebsford Environmental redistributed the silt throughout the lake to create a deeper area to enable larger fish to flourish and a shallow, boggy area to facilitate the growth of marginal habitat.
And other work has continued, despite the efforts of the weather.
A spokesperson for Woodley Town Council said: “The scalloped area of the banks has also been completed, ready to begin work on the larger external banking areas, including the footpath and supporting boardwalk areas.
“While the rain has slowed down some of the work, it is helping to fill up the lake to previous levels.
“Once the levels are up and the additional bank work is completed, the team can then assess the environment to establish which marginal plants will enhance and create a more productive habitat for the local wildlife.”
Information boards will be posted around the lake to keep residents informed of progress, and status updates will also be available at www.woodley.gov.uk
