Steve McManus, chief executive for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust has been rated as one of the
50 top chief executives 2019 by the Health Service Journal (HSJ) – the management magazine for healthcare leaders.
The judging panel which included leading healthcare figures from across the UK assessed the chief executives on three criteria: leadership style and personal example, the performance of their organisation against its peers, and the contribution they have made to the local and wider health system.
On receiving the accolade Steve said: “It is an absolute pleasure to be chief executive at the Royal Berkshire.
“This recognition really is a testament to the hard work of all staff across the Trust who continually strive to improve services for our patients.
“Last year this commitment was recognised when the Care Quality Commission rated the Trust as ‘good’ from its previous rating in March 2014 of ‘requires improvement’ and the Royal Berkshire Hospital itself was rated ‘outstanding’.
“As we look to the future, our work with partner organisations across west Berkshire and the wider health system will create a shared vision that will ensure best use of resources to improve health and care services for the communities we serve.”
