Thieves have broken into a Winnersh supermarket so they could steal cigarettes.
The Sainsbury’s store off King Street Lane was raided during the early hours of this morning, Thursday, January 26.
We understand that thieves forced the shutter to the cigarette display to take the items, before driving off.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “We were called at around 2am today to a report of a burglary at Sainsbury’s in King Street Lane, Winnersh.
“Offenders entered the premises and stole cigarettes before leaving in a vehicle at speed.
“Officers are investigating the non-dwelling burglary and are working to identify and locate the offenders. Anyone with any information about the incident should call 101.”
It is the second overnight raid in Winnersh this week.
At around 2am on Wednesday, January 25, they were called to Wedderburn Close when a resident was woken up by his dog barking.
Police say that the resident saw two men trying to break into the garage and were then seen going into the back of a gold Volvo estate.
