Some residents on Nine Mile Ride are currently without water after a water pipe burst at 5.30am this morning.
South East Water said that it is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and it is making bottled water available to affected customers.
It can be collected from outside 122 Nine Mile Ride.
It is the second burst water main in a week – just seven days ago, a pipe burst in Barkham Road near Wokingham’s town centre. It was fixed the same day.
South East Water’s Distribution Manager Philip Cereda said: “We were alerted to a problem in Nine Mile Ride, Wokingham at around 5.30am this morning (Wednesday 24 August).
“Our technician found a burst on a six inch diameter water main.
“Our teams are on site working as quickly as possible to repair the pipe and temporary two-way traffic lights are in place for the safety of road users and our workforce.
“If anyone is concerned about a vulnerable family member or neighbour, please call our 24 hour emergency number 0333 000 1100.
Philip added: “Unfortunately emergencies like this do happen from time to time. We have 540 million litres of water a day being transported around 9,000 miles of underground pipeline. There are also six million joints which have to withstand high pressure 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Inevitably sometimes these pipes and connections fail unexpectedly, but we work around the clock to repair them as quickly as possible.”
“Anyone who spots a leak when they are out and about can report it to South East Water on 0333 000 3330 or tweets us @sewateruk.”
A status update from South East Water has been placed on its website.
It reads: “We currently have a burst water main which may be affecting some customers in this area.
“Customers may be experiencing no water or low water pressure. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and reassure customers that we are working hard to fix the main as quickly as possible.
“This message will be updated as soon as further information becomes available.”
