SEVEN new names for Peach Place are expected to be revealed by Wokingham Borough Council shortly and high street fashion stores are also interested in coming to the new Wokingham town shopping area.
At the meeting of Wokingham Borough Council on Thursday, February 21, Cllr Philip Mirfin revealed that the paperwork was in the process of being signed for the retailers.
The seven will join those that have recently been announced – GAIL’s Bakery and Waterstones, which are already open for business, The Leafy Elephant gin bar, the Blue Orchid bakery, Cook!, Beyond The Download and Sit and Sip.
Cllr Mirfin, the executive member for regeneration, said: “In the run up to opening, we will soon be announcing another seven tenants that are currently in the hands of our solicitors.
“We are also in conversation with two high street fashion operators as well.”
Cook!, he added, would open on Rose Street next month.
Cllr Mirfin said that Elms Field work is “progressing well” with triple glazing being installed on the Premier Inn, which will have 96 bedrooms.
“The Premier Inn should be handed over this summer, Aldi will be handed over for fit in the next couple of weeks and is looking very good with its new car park coming on at a pace.
“The Everyman Cinema will be handed over for fit out later this year.”
And Cllr Mirfin said that the new Elms Field park area has been designed to PiPA standards for inclusive and accessible play. “It is set to open this summer,” he said.
