SHINFIELD earned their third win of the league season as they defeated Woodley by six wickets to remain above them in the table.

Shinfield won the toss and put Woodley into bat which looked to be a very shrewd decision after the hosts claimed two early wickets.

Vivek Vasist bowled well to gain the first two wickets of the innings as Woodley captain Upendra Deshpande was dismissed for two runs and his opening partner, Amol Lotke, quickly followed for just four runs.

After the early loss of their opening pair which left Woodley on 10-2, the visitors recovered well as Pavan Nargund and Swapnil Bagwe put some much needed runs on the board as they amassed a fine partnership before Bagwe was dismissed on 71 with the score at 121-3.

Arun Kumar performed splendidly with the ball as he dismissed both of Woodley’s top scorers to help keep the total down.

With the score at 170-6, Woodley looked set to surpass the 200 mark with four wickets remaining.

However, some brilliant bowling ensured that they would only post eight more runs to the total as the tail end collapsed quickly thanks to the clinical bowling of Vasist (4-29) and Kumar (5-23), who collected nine wickets between them.

Shinfield opened their innings strongly as the pair of Sameer N and Saketh Chodimella batted patiently to build a partnership.

Despite losing his opening partner for 10 runs and then Stuart Henderson for 13, Chodimella batted well as he scored 48 runs before he lost his wicket with Shinfield in a commanding position with the score at 128-3.

The next wicket fell at 159-4 as Liam Prowse was removed having contributed a quick total of 48 runs from 44 balls as Shinfield closed in on victory.

Anish Pandey (12) and Anuraag Shukla (11) ensured that more wickets would fall as they saw their side over the finish line to seal a convincing six wicket victory with just under 14 overs remaining.
