A RUBBISH fire which burned out of control sent plumes of smoke billowing across a busy road in Wargrave this morning.
Crews from Wokingham fire station were called following reports of a fire near the Piggott School in Twyford Road at around 10.30am.
Firefighters found a man burning rubbish but the fire had grown too large for him to control. They brought the blaze under control, and issued the man with advice, especially with regards to controlled fires close to roads.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: ” We always suggest that you keep a hose reel nearby so that fires can be put out in case they burn out of control. In this case, I think some people on the road saw the smoke and became concerned.”
