Reading Women have completed the signing of defender Sophie Perry on a free transfer.
Republic of Ireland international Perry has recently seen her contract with Brighton and Hove Albion expire, allowing her to join Royals outside of the transfer window.
Perry, 29, played a key role as Brighton earned promotion to next season’s WSL 2 and joins with an FA Cup winners medal and WSL experience from her days at Chelsea Ladies alongside current Reading players Helen Ward and Kylie Davies.
“I want to test myself again in WSL 1,” said Perry.

“The team has done really well so far this season and got some good points, so I’m hoping I can help strengthen the side and help us do well in the second half of the season.
“I know a couple of players at Reading and they’ve always spoke very positively about the club.
“It’s a great setup here with good staff and a good bunch of players.
“I’m very excited to get going.”
The full-back is set to compete for a spot in the back four with the likes of Becky Jane, Harriet Scott and Shelly Cox and manager Kelly Chambers is pleased to add some experience to her ranks.
“Sophie is an experienced defender and has proven herself both in the WSL 1 and at international level,” she said.
“It is another great signing for us and one that further increases the competitiveness for places within the squad, which I see as a positive.
“Sophie is a very professional and ambitious player who adds extra quality to our already talented squad.”
Perry will wear the number 13 shirt for the Royals.
