JAAP STAM says the ball is in Jake Cooper’s court as to whether or not he leaves Reading.
The centre-back came through the academy with the Royals and has made 53 appearances for the first team.
However, the former Forest School pupil found game time hard to come by following the arrival of Stam last summer and joined Millwall on loan in January.
After helping the Lions clinch promotion to the Championship, they are strongly linked with a permanent move for the defender. But Stam says nothing has yet been decided.
“We haven’t agreed anything yet,” said the Royals boss.
“Jake is still training with us.
“I spoke to him at the beginning of pre-season and explained to him the situation over here with the players that we have in his position.
“He can still show what he can do for the team and that he can be important for us.
“At the end of the day, it’s up to him what he wants to do.
“Maybe Millwall and Reading have agreed but haven’t told me!
“As far as I know, I knew that Millwall was interested, but we haven’t agreed any fee yet.”
