Steve Clarke has announced the arrivals of Dave Beasant, Steven Reid, Jonathan Urwin and Stewart Bannister to his backroom staff following the sackings of a number of employees last month.
While there is still no goalkeeper in place, Beasant fills the berth left by Sal Bibbo as goalkeeping coach after the long-serving and popular Bibbo.
On Beasant, Clarke said: “Dave Beasant brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to Reading FC. When I decided to make a change in this department I knew that I wanted Dave to come here and I’m glad that I persuaded him to.
“Reading FC have, in recent years, had a good record of bringing goalkeepers through the ranks and this will continue under Dave.”
Reid, who worked with Clarke at West Brom, only finished his playing career this summer, retiring following Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League.
The former Republic of Ireland international’s arrival sees Eamonn Dolan relinquish first team duties and return to his role as academy manager.
Clarke continued: “Steven Reid is someone that I came across at West Brom where he was a valued senior member of my playing staff and immediately I could see that he had the right temperament and characteristics to be a successful coach.
“Kevin Keen has been by my side for a few seasons and we thought that it would be good for us to alter the dynamic of the coaching staff with a younger coach. Steven will bring a hunger, freshness and enthusiasm to the club that I feel is needed.”
Urwin has previously worked at West Ham United and comes in at head physiotherapist while Bannister, who worked alongside Clarke during his Chelsea days, has been named as the new kit man.
