STREET entertainment is back in Wokingham for a summer season, thanks to Wokingham Town Council.
Earlier this month, magician Matthew Garrett was the first act in the annual Sunny Saturdays event.
And last Saturday it was Cuban Dancers who entertained shoppers with their quicksteps and tangos.
This Saturday, Trinity Concert Band will be performing in Wokingham’s Market Place, while the music the following week will be Mountain Entertainment, featuring the sublime singing talents of Danny Mountain.
The weekly programme of events starts at 11am each week and is in Market Place until September.
Cllr Sally Gurney, the vice-chair of Wokingham Town Council’s arts and culture committee, is delighted that the scheme is back.
She said: “Here comes the sun! Our popular Sunny Saturdays have returned to the Market Place every Saturday from 11am from May through September.
“We have a wide variety of acts lined up for you to enjoy while you’re in town, from Salsa to folk music, big bands to solo musicians.
“Even when we’ve had some not-so-sunny weather, it has been a delight to see smiling happy faces on performers and audience alike.”
