A TEAM of physiotherapists from Wokingham scaled new heights to smash a charity fundraising target last month.
Seven people from Rodger Duckworth Physiotherapy, in Rectory Road, climbed Mount Snowdon to raise money for Kate Mellor, a young woman with with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, so that she can fulfil her dream of road tripping across America.
The team scaled the 1,085m mountain on May 13, raising an incredible £3,179: £1,000 more than their target.
Physiotherapist Salil Das, at the practice, who put together the challenge, said: “Climbing Snowdon with the rest of the team was a great experience. The sense of collective achievement when we got to the very cold and blustery top was amazing.
“We had a great celebration that night and through the generosity of many we have managed to raise some valuable funds to help contribute towards Kate fulfilling her dream. We will all continue to support her as she strives to achieve her target.”
Kate said: “I’m so grateful for what the team have done for me, it’s absolutely amazing!
“This money will make a huge difference in getting me to America.
“All I can say is thank you to everyone involved and to everybody who donated. I cannot put into words how much it means to me.”
Kate’s mother Jane, who works at the practice, added: “I am proud to be part of such a great team of physios at Rodger Duckworth’s Practice who understand Kate’s determination to get to America.”
