THE FIREWORKS have not yet been lit, but already a local group is making preparations for its Christmas concert.
Trinity Concert Band will be spreading festive cheer in Reading Minster Church in Reading’s town centre on Sunday, December 8.
Starting at 4pm, the wind band are promising lashings of music and carols in their debut appearance at the church, in St Mary’s Butts.
The programme will include Fanfare for Christmas, O Magnum Mysterium, Jingle Bells, music from blockbuster greats Home Alone and The Polar Express. There will also be a Glenn Miller-style festive medley.
Trinity Concert Band is based in Lower Earley, and comprises both talented amateurs and professional musicians.
The group perform up to five formal concerts each year in the area and can be seen at bandstands across the region during the summer months.
Last year, they were one of only two bands in the UK to receive the top Platinum award at the National Concert Band Festival.
And the orchestra are keen to introduce music to the masses. It now offers a free ticket to anyone who has never been to a Trinity Concert Band concert before.
Tickets cost £12 in advance, £14 on the door, £7 for students, free for under 16s.
