TWO people have been taken to hospital following a crash involving a car and a bus near Three Mile Cross this morning.
The collision between a Ford Mondeo and a Greenwave bus happened at a junction on the A33 shortly before 6.40am.
A passing ambulance crew came across the incident and called for back-up.
The drivers of the car and the bus had to be cut free by fire crews from Whitley Wood and Dee Road stations.
The driver of the car has been taken to hospital with head a chest injuries which are not be believed to be life-threatening.
The bus driver, who suffered chest injuries, was not physically trapped but damage to the bus prevented him from getting out of the cab.
Both drivers have been taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment. There were no passengers on the bus at the time.
A spokesperson for Reading Buses, Jake Osman said: “Our driver didn’t appear to have any external injuries, but was still taken to hospital to be checked out.
“We are going to obviously keep an eye on him when he is discharged to make sure he is OK.
“There were no passengers in the bus at the time, so thankfully there are no passenger injuries.”
All lanes have now been reopened on the A33 but traffic is still heavy with congestion reported up to the B3349 junction.
