TWYFORD and Ruscombe cruised to an easy victory with a nine wicket win against Waltham St Lawrence to take them up to 4th position in the Berkshire Cricket League Division 1.
Having won the toss, Twyford elected to field first. Opening batsman David Field was run out for 14 runs by Razavullah Shaik before Rajendra Baku gained his first breakthrough of the match as he caught and bowled Wasim Javed for a duck and then bowled Ejaz Gujjar out for 23 runs.
The superb bowling of Babu continued as he took two more wickets thanks to the alert fielding of Robin Thompson who caught wicket keeper Andy Malliff out for 4 before catching out Waltham’s captain Chris Waghorn for 15.
Chris England managed to boost his sides total with a decent total of 21 runs, however Twyford took advantage of the tail end and two wickets from Robin Thompson and another from Spence Nichols ended Waltham’s innings as they posted just 96 runs.
With a small score to chase down, Twyford stayed professional and efficient to get the job done. A small blip in the innings occurred when Chris Waghorn gained the only wicket of Waltham’s bowling as Stan Fritz was dismissed for 18 runs.
However, Robin Thompson added to his impressive bowling and fielding display by totalling 38 runs and he was partnered by captain Shiva Nagam who scored 29 runs from 32 balls as Twyford sailed to an easy victory, reaching Waltham’s total after just 23 overs.
