Maidenhead MP Theresa May, whose constituency falls within Wokingham borough, will become Prime Minister this week.
This afternoon (Monday), outgoing PM David Cameron, who resigned following the result of the EU Referendum on June 24, announced that Mrs May, who is MP for Twyford, Wargrave, Sonning, Ruscombe, Charvil, Hurst and Remenham, would assume control on Wednesday.
Mr Cameron will chair his last cabinet meeting, take his last Prime Minister’s Questions and formally offer his resignation to the Queen.
Mr Cameron said that Mrs May had his ‘full support’.
Mrs May’s rival for the Conservative Party leadership, Andrea Leadsom, withdrew from the contest this afternoon.
