I live in Wargrave and I’ll be a passionate advocate for Remenham, Wargrave & Ruscombe. I was prompted to stand for election to the Council, as I feel that the local community needs a much stronger voice. The retiring Councillor, Bob Pitts, moved to the Isle of Wight a year ago.
I attended the NCTJ’s course in Press Photography, thereafter working as a music photographer.
Drawn to a business career, I moved to a sales role, with Cussons UK (makers of Imperial Leather and other major brands), where I became manager of South England & Wales, before becoming a key account manager. I moved from the multinational, in 1995, to become joint owner & practice managing partner of Maidenhead’s Pines Veterinary Clinic, for 17 years.
Following our sale of the practice in 2012, I became a lead campaigner against puppy farming – led by the ‘Lucy’s Law’ campaign, currently in mid-consultation period with DEFRA. We hope the resultant legislation will include the ban on third-party sales of puppies. I’m a member of APDAWG (All-Party Parliamentary Dog Advisory Welfare Group), at Westminster.
I was sole carer for my father, who suffered from dementia.
“We need a determined, dedicated representative, to fight our corner in Wokingham Borough – where we are often ignored – particularly as we must now fight against their proposed huge development of our green belt. I have extensive experience in business management and ownership, in addition to political campaigning, at both local & national level. My priorities at the Council, are to secure proper investment in & support for services and facilities that we need – for affordable and appropriate housing, education, serving our elderly and our community.”
