Wokingham Borough residents were asked to vote on 18 seats across the borough today – these are known as wards, with voters voting for their local ward.
The borough operates on a system of thirds: in a four-year cycle, a third of seats are contested every year bar the fourth (fallow) year. The last fallow year was 2016.
In some wards, this system means there was no election as their ward was contested at a different stage in the cycle – for example, Arborfield, which only has one candidate.
