The long-awaited end to Wokingham town centre’s roadworks came today as the new Station Approach finally opened for business.
The biggest changes are new traffic flows around the station itself: the roundabout has gone and been replaced with a one way system that will change the way you approach the area.
Station Road is one way and you have to get into the right lane – left for A321 towards Elms Field car parks and Sandhurst, right for straight on to Barkham Road towards Molly Millars Lane. You cannot turn right into the station.
As you drive down Wellington Road towards the station, you have to go straight over to take you to Station Approach. You cannot turn left or right.
And if you come to the station from Barkham Road you have to turn left into Station Approach. This, along with access to Oxford Road, will take some getting used to as it means adding on a couple of minutes to your journey to get from the Barkham Road to, say, Elms Field car park.
You can see all the main road changes from our high-speed video – everything in just 90 seconds.
