CHILDREN from a school in Wokingham put their business hats on to raise £850 for the victims of the Manchester attack.
Pupils from Westende Junior School, in Seaford Road, have been learning how to run their own businesses this week, and with a £10 start-up budget they split into groups to create and market their own products, which they then sold to fellow pupils, staff and parents this morning (Friday).
Creative ideas such as Pom Pom bookmarks, chocolate sweets, refreshing cocktails and even massages were some of the most popular stalls at the fair, with pupils working hard to raise the most profit.
A total of £849.84 was raised, which will be donated to those affected by the bombing on Monday night.
Year six students Emilie and Nicole, who worked together to make Choco Treats, said: “It’s been really good fun, we have learned how to work as a team.
“I don’t think I’d like to run my own business though as it is very stressful, especially with food!”
Assistant headteacher Philip Theobald said: “The children have worked really hard all week to create their products, and they are so excited to sell them to each other and the parents today.
“The children suggested sending any profits they made to help the victims of the Manchester attack which we thought was a really good idea.
“We are very proud of the students for all of their hard work and their generosity.”
